(ANSA) – ANCONA, 30 AUG – The limits of Ozone in the air were exceeded at the air quality monitoring station in Pesaro – Via Scarpellini on 29/08/2024. An hourly concentration of 189 µg/m3 was recorded at 3:00 pm, higher than the information threshold of 180 µg/m3. This was communicated by the Regional Agency for the Protection of the Environment of the Marche (Arpam), through the Regional Air Quality Center UO.
Ozone is an irritating gas for the eyes and respiratory tract. Arpam reports that no exceedances of the information threshold have been recorded at other stations, but still recommends that the entire population adhere to the following precautions to protect their health: avoid prolonged outdoor exposure during the hottest hours of the day for the most fragile people (children, the elderly, pregnant women, heart patients and people with chronic respiratory diseases); reduce to a minimum, even in the afternoon, the performance of tiring physical activities (bike rides, races, sports activities in general) that would lead to an increase in respiratory effort and the irritating action would be more intense; favor a light diet rich in antioxidant elements (vitamin C, vitamin E, Selenium).
However, the disturbances tend to cease with the end of the acute ozone concentration phenomenon. (ANSA).
