The 128th Reinforced Brigade announced the arrest of a criminal gang specializing in transporting and smuggling weapons across the common borders between Libya and neighboring countries.
The brigade said in a statement: “After investigation and surveillance operations that extended for several days, the 77th Fighter Company of the 128th Reinforced Brigade was able to raid and arrest a criminal gang specializing in transporting and smuggling weapons across the common borders between Libya and neighboring countries, numbering twelve individuals of Sudanese and Chadian nationalities, in the Tamsa area in southern Libya. All the weapons and ammunition in their possession were confiscated.”
The statement added: “The operation came out of our belief in the role of the armed forces in preserving the security and safety of the homeland and its citizens, and as an affirmation of our commitment to this role, and in implementation of Khalifa Haftar’s instructions regarding establishing security and stability in southern Libya, securing the country’s borders, and combating crime of all kinds.”
