Since Monday April 22, 2024, defense and security forces have arrested two suspected highwaymen, in Danka plateau, an area within the urban commune of Siguiri. They were arrested with an AK 47 weapon, 112 rounds of ammunition, a pair of scissors and a bladed weapon.

On the morning of Friday April 26, 2024, these two alleged bandits, including a woman, were presented to the press in front of the prefectural and municipal authorities and the defense and security forces, in the premises of the research brigade. When questioned, Amadou Diallo, the commander of the research brigade, spoke in these terms: “Since Monday April 22, 2024, these two alleged bandits, a man and a woman, have been arrested by the defense forces and security guard with an AK 47 weapon, a pair of scissors, a bladed weapon and 112 rounds of ammunition. They were presented to the public prosecutor at the court of first instance of Siguiri for the purposes of investigations.

Very moved following this arrest, the public prosecutor at the court of first instance of Siguiri, Ibrahima 1 Camara, declared: “It is the fruit of collaboration between the defense and security forces with the population. I am very happy with this arrest of these two alleged bandits, a man and a woman. They have ammunition and weapons such as AK 47 and others. I thank the men in uniform and the population for accepting our penal policy. It’s a fight without retreat, Siguiri must be rid of bandits.”

For his part, the commander of the Siguiri infantry battalion did not fail to recall the effort made by the defense and security forces in the fight against organized crime and organized crime in the Siguiri prefecture.

“In our sovereign mission, we are ready at all times to track down bandits in any place and in any circumstance. It is a mission without retreat, the defense and security forces will be on hand to put an end to crime and organized crime in Siguiri here. We have put in place a security system not only in the urban commune of Siguiri but also in the sub-prefectures of Kintinia and Didi, for the security of our population,” suggested Colonel Abdoulaye Touré.

It should be noted that these two individuals were arrested in a three-bedroom house. In one of the rooms there was an arsenal of weapons plus three boxes of magazines.

The latest news is that the two alleged bandits are called Oumar Keita, alias “Army” and Fantouma Doumbouya alias “Trottoir”.
