Coimbatore: BJP National Women’s Rani President and MLA Vanathi Srinivasan has said that it is reprehensible that the BJP has arrested Coimbatore District President Utthamaraswamy without taking action against DMK Deputy General Secretary and MP A. Raza.

In a statement issued in this regard, he said, “It is highly condemnable that the arrest of the BJP Managar district president, who spoke to disrupt religious harmony, without arresting A. Raza and reacting to it without even nominally condemning him. Through this, the DMK has once again proved that it is a fascist government that has no faith in democracy. If they open their mouths, they will lecture about democracy, freedom of speech and freedom of expression, but after DMK came to power, if they express an opposing opinion, they are arrested and engaged in threatening activities.

BJP will never fear this power intimidation by DMK. Arrested BJP district president should be released immediately. The false cases against him should be withdrawn,” he said.

Meanwhile, when Balaji Uthamaramasamy told reporters while being arrested, “I was arrested for abuse of power. They have arrested me without reprimanding their MP for defaming a religion. The state government should prove what I have said wrongly. I will face this legally. “I will not back down from my opinion,” he said.
