In an alarming incident in Aluva, a man was arrested for attacking a couple and stealing their vehicle, money, and mobile phone. The accused, identified as Shafiq, a native of Kodikuthimala, was apprehended by the police last night.
The unfortunate incident occurred when Shafiq attacked a man, identified as Jockey, and his wife, Shini, near the Aluva Rural S office at around 9 pm on Wednesday. The couple was stopped by Shafiq, who demanded money from them and even resorted to violence. The assailant pulled the couple out of their car and beat them with a crowbar before stealing their car, mobile phone, and a sum of 60,000 rupees. The locals attempted to intervene, but Shafiq managed to escape with the stolen items. The couple was then rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
Following the incident, a police investigation was initiated, and the stolen car was later found on Pipeline Road with a flat tire. Shafiq was subsequently apprehended in a secret sanctuary in Kalamassery. Upon being taken into custody, Shafiq claimed that the couple had hit his bike and demanded compensation, a claim that Jockey vehemently denies.
Furthermore, it was revealed that Shafiq has a history of run-ins with the law, with earlier cases against him, including one for running into an excise vehicle and several related to the sale of ganja. The police have indicated that he has a number of cases in his name.
