“I told them that I was retiring, that I had driven the road and they told me that I would be sorry to stop,” she told the British media. “I agreed to return to racing while retiring from competition”. But when she crossed the line in 3rd place, she was presented with a medal, posed for photos and didn’t have the courage to refuse the honours.

“I made a terrible mistake accepting this medal and should have returned it. I was tired, I felt jet lag and I didn’t feel well”, she justified herself, when she had arrived from Australia the night before the race. “I raised my arms but I was in a daze and I had no clear ideas. I had no bad intentions, there was poor communication on my part, ”she said again.

Wayne Drinkwater, the organizer of the event, said he was warned that a rider had benefited from “an unsportsmanlike advantage on a portion of the course” and confirmed his disqualification. In 2014, Zakrzewski finished the Commonwealth Games marathon in Scotland in 14th place. It also has several reference times over long distances. But not enough to run 4 km in less than two minutes!
