Arsenal continues its firm march towards the Premier League title and this Tuesday they beat Chelsea 5-0 to become the sole leader of the championship. Ben White and Kai Havertz each scored a double and Leandro Trossard also scored.
In the first half, Arsenal quickly went ahead with the Belgian Trossard who received a pass from Havertz and scored with his left foot in the area to beat goalkeeper Dorde Petrovic.
Towards 21′, the Gunners came closer with Declan Rice who grabbed the ball on the edge of the area and there sent the ball over near the corner of the blue goal. Three minutes later, Chelsea came close with Nicolas Jackson who went at speed and when he threw a cross, the ball hit an opponent and then the post of Arsenal’s goal.
At about 31′, Chelsea had another chance to tie the game with Marc Cucurella who received a low cross and there he hit a left footed shot that was cleared by the rival defense.
A few moments later, Arsenal had two clear ones in the same play. First, Havertz took a left foot shot that Petrovic saved in a great way and then the ball reached Trossard and there the ball hit Benoit Badiashile, but Petrovic was able to knock it out of the goal.
Already in the second half, Arsenal destroyed Chelsea. At 52′, Ben White put the second on the Gunner’s account in a play in which Bukayo Saka gave it to Rice and after the midfielder’s shot, the ball remained in the area and there the winger sent it to save with his left foot.
Just four minutes later, Havertz scored the third for the local team. Maertin Odegaard made a great filtered pass to the German and he finished in a great way against Petrovic. In the 64th minute, Havertz completed his double with a shot inside the area that hit the Chelsea goalkeeper’s far post.
In the 70th minute, Arsenal went for it and got it with White who surprised Petrovic with a lofted shot that slipped into Chelsea’s goal. Towards 87′, the local team almost scored the sixth with Fábio Vieira who went from the right and entered the area and there he took a shot that barely passed the outside of the rival goal’s net. In the addition, Gabriel Martinelli almost scored the sixth in a play in which the striker went alone, but Petrovic saved in a great way and left everything at 5-0 in the end.
With the victory, Arsenal is the leader of the Premier with 77 points and on the next date they will face Tottenham as a visitor.
