‘Gunners’ won 2-1 at the City Ground, but conceded in the final minutes to hold on to their lead
Arsenal did not lose ground in their pursuit of leaders Liverpool. This Tuesday, Mikel Arteta’s team went to the home of Nuno Espírito Santo’s Nottingham Forest, winning 2-1, in the 22nd round of the Premier League.
The first half belonged entirely to the gunners, who tried as best they could to reach the opponent’s goal. However, NES parked the bus in their area and made Forest defend with practically all their players, while looking for an opportunity to hurt Arsenal on the counterattack.
After the game remained tied at half-time, the second half started similarly to the first, with Forest giving Arsenal the initiative in the game to, perhaps, take advantage of a counterattack to score Raya’s net.
Still, Arsenal hit so hard until they finally broke through. In the 65th minute, Gabriel Jesus received Zinchenko’s throw-in, ran almost to the touchline and surprised Turner with a low shot that went between the American goalkeeper’s legs. 1-0 for the Gunners.
At a disadvantage on the scoreboard, Nottingham Forest rose to the occasion, looking for a draw and Arsenal were grateful. Ball recovered by the gunners in midfield and passed quickly to Gabriel Jesus, who served Saka (72′) for 2-0.
When it seemed that Arsenal already had the victory in their pocket, Forest reduced the result in the 89th minute, through Awoniyi. The Gunners suffered until the end, but managed to take home the 3 points. The NES team is in an uninviting position, just 2 points away from the relegation zone.

Nottingham Forest, led by Portuguese coach Nuno Espírito Santo, will host Arsenal this Tuesday in the 22nd round of the Premier League. Even though the home team does not occupy the most attractive position in the table (16th place, with 20 points), the pressure is more on the side of the Gunners, who cannot lose points again if they want to stay alive in the fight for the title.
Equal on points with Aston Villa and Manchester City (these with one less game played) and 5 points behind leaders Liverpool, Mikel Arteta’s team visits the City Ground with a single objective: to win. Nottingham Forest, even though they are 4 points away from the relegation zone, do not intend to be surprised again in the Championship, so the Gunners’ task will not be easy.
