Artemisa delegation at the III Congress of Family Medicine

A delegation made up of nurses, doctors, teachers and administrators from Public Health in Artemisa attend the III Congress of Family Medicine until November 3, which is being held at the Convention Palace in Havana, after more than a decade of the last time it was done.

The conclave, held under the auspices of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health and other prestigious national and international institutions and organizations, constitutes a special occasion for the exchange of experiences, reflections and knowledge on health, linked to community medical care.

The provincial director of Public Health of Artemisa, Yanelis Amador Borrego, who accompanies the 15 delegates from this territory, expressed on her Facebook profile that “they will be days of exchange of experiences, leading to better results in the implementation of the Doctor’s Program and the Family Nurse.”

The Artemisa delegation presented several presentations in the working commissions that highlight science as a fundamental pillar in the development of Primary Health Care (PHC).

They addressed topics such as educational intervention on smoking in adult smokers in the PHC, sedentary lifestyle as a risk factor in the young adult population, risk factors in mothers of infants and the behavior of the main operational indicators of the Maternal and Child Program in the polyclinic. Furthermore, based on innovation, Lic. Luisa Juana Barbosa Ríos presented a possible Nursing Supervision Guide to evaluate the performance of the Family Nurse; and, from an administrative perspective, the delegates from San Cristóbal analyzed the role of the cadres in the management of the APS impact indicators.

The event, developed under the premise of 40 years of achievements, challenges and challenges of Family Medicine in Cuba, for the achievement of universal health, has had the presence of delegates from different Cuban provinces, as well as specialists from 11 nations, including them Colombia, Venezuela, Spain, the United States and Paraguay.
