Active on wheels, the Artemisa province will host the headquarters of the central national act for June 28, Transport Worker’s Day in Cuba, at the UEB Passage of the Provincial Company of the branch (Artra), collective Vanguardia Nacional.
The entity is immersed in the recovery of large-capacity vehicles and buses that have been deregistered due to deterioration, in collaboration with the territorial government, the Evelio Prieto Guillama bus factory, among others, informed Jhoan Hernández Pérez, general director of Artra. .
“At the Transcontainer base we obtained 10 broken cars, two of them already in the completion phase in terms of sheet metal and painting, one awaiting documents, while another three await mechanical installation in the Guanajay industry.
“The rest of the vehicles had no repair; however, its engines and parts serve other crippled cars. The dredges incorporate a load capacity of 180 tons and allow to alleviate the demand of the Mariel Special Development Zone”, where they are inserted with companies such as Thai bing and ViMariel.
Hernández Pérez added that they advocate a freight base to provide transfer services for workers in Yutong buses. “We bought the cars from Transmetro in Cárdenas, Matanzas, with the aim of freeing up some of those destined for this activity for the transfer of the population.
“Meanwhile, freight, when necessary, will reinforce interprovincial transport. Now we travel to Pinar del Río, Havana, Holguín, Granma and Santiago de Cuba, based on the link with companies outside the territory”.
Likewise, Artra executes a program together with National Railways, in order to transform evicted buses into railway buses and arrive by train in areas where the roads are in poor condition.
“The plan for the year is seven, depending on the availability of resources. For example, Evelio Prieto repairs the structural part; in the railway workshops of Sagua la Grande, Villa Clara, they carry out the mechanical work and the company 26 de Julio de Holguín must make the viaderos in the communities.
“We are even going to rescue the Artemisa bus station and place the central bus station in the main municipality. Likewise, we coordinated with Ferrocarriles Centro the purchase of a CV 10 or triplet, another acquisition to use the potential of the province in terms of railways”.
At the end of May, the Provincial Transport Company exceeded its sales plan and accumulated profits, based on the prominence of the workshops, due to the lack of fuel.
Until June 9 they had received 35,000 liters, when normally, on that date, they had more than 100,000, says the director. “Of the 120 routes approved in the province, only about 30 have worked in recent months; sometimes none, and the cargo activity has also suffered ”.
