by time news

Until 19 March 2023 at the Gallerie d’Italia Naples in via Toledo it is possible to visit the exhibition “Artemisia Gentileschi in Naples”, dedicated to the painter’s long Neapolitan stay, documented between 1630 and 1654 and interrupted only by a trip to London between 1638 and 1640. A fundamental chapter in the art and in the biographical story of Artemisia, who had never been the subject of such a large monographic exhibition in Naples.

The exhibition, created in special collaboration with the National Gallery of London and in collaboration with the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte, the State Archives of Naples and the University of Naples L’Orientale, presents a careful selection of works from from public and private, Italian and international collections, which make the exhibition an opportunity to update scientific studies on the subject.

On the occasion of one of the international study days entitled “Around Artemisia. Feminine art in seventeenth-century Europe” curated by Antonio Ernesto Denunzio and Giuseppe Porzio, Michele Coppola (Intesa Sanpaolo Executive Director of Art, Culture and Historic Heritage and Director of the Gallerie d’Italia) declared: “The Gallerie d’Italia in Naples will continue with enhancement of the collections owned by the Bank, will soon host new temporary exhibitions dedicated to great Italian artists and will continue the work of sharing with the city, with the schools, with the university in order to promote art and culture as founding and unifying elements of the our country.”
