The Swede simply freaked out and his racket against the referee’s chair causing Arthur Fils to qualify for the ATP 250 in Lyon.

Frenchman Arthur Fils qualified at the expense of Mikael Ymer at the ATP 250 in Lyon on Wednesday, after a surreal scene. While it was 6-5 for the Frenchman, who had just broken his opponent in the first set, Mikael Ymer stopped at the change of sides to smash his racket against the referee’s chair.

A few minutes earlier, Mikael Ymer did not appreciate an arbitration decision on a ball that he considered to be faulty, from the Frenchman. The chair umpire gave the point to Fils, refusing to go and see the mark at Ymer’s request. The Swede then got very angry, before venting his anger after being broken at 6-5.

Arthur Fils has therefore qualified for the third round in Lyon, where he could face Félix Auger-Aliassime, seeded number one.
