Talking about artificial intelligence (AI) today is talking about an instrument of infinite possibilities. you know it well Carlos Same, a young Valencian who during the early stages of the pandemic, back in 2020, was focused on his doctorate in this matter. It was at that moment, in one of the many conversations with his cousin Alvaro, when they both realized a reality. “There was a big gap between science, innovation [de la inteligencia artificial] and what was coming to the market, which was out of date”, acknowledges Igual. The difficulty lay in making this bridge between research and reality happen more easily.

That was the germ that ended up driving Kimera Technologies, a Valencian firm whose business model is focused on helping all kinds of companies and digital businesses with its ‘software’ to identify useful information in images. As? Well, allowing them to “understand their users a bit and tell them which product they have to show them.”

Developed from its origins under the umbrella of Lanzadera – the Marina de Empresas accelerator promoted by the president of Mercadona, Juan Roig-, who selected her for his show in January 2021, her business journey officially began that same summer. It was then that Carlos y Alvaro -current CEO of the company- founded the firm together with three other people.

The founders want to make it easy for their tool to reach any customer, whatever their size.

After winning several national awards, Kimera Technologies managed to raise a round this February preseed (pre-seed) of 660,000 euros thanks to the landing of funds like Addendum Capital and Adara Ventures, among others. This impulse has already led them to penetrate the market, with horizons in which they are currently focusing “on the fashion and the retail“, but where they also have customers in areas such as travel.

Infinite possibilities

And it is that their computer vision technology, they say, “can be used for whatever you want.” “It is an algorithm that understands what is in a photo, captures it and then relates it to other texts and other images,” he adds. Carlos.

The objective, to give a versatility and precision in the results much greater than that of other similar initiatives. And, above all, with the will that his tool can be “available to everyone, whatever its size”. “Make it economical” for that “democratize” artificial intelligence. In this sense, he points out that a small or medium-sized company can have its technology at its disposal “for a few hundred euros a month”, although they have clients whose monthly fee “is even below 100 euros”.

Looking to the future, among its business perspectives, Igual assures that it is “continuing to integrate more technologies”, such as using AI to do analytics that help predict trends or add, for example, the imaging.

Meanwhile, it will continue to consolidate its opening to international markets such as South America, the United States and the United Kingdom to “generate that level of attraction and customers” that will take them “to the next leap”.
