Artificial Intelligence industry professionals meet in Shanghai for the fifth year

This year’s World Conference on Artificial Intelligence is being held from September 1 to 3 in the Chinese financial hub of Shanghai. The annual event brings together scientists, businessmen, government officials and international organizations, with the aim of showcasing the advances and opportunities in the Artificial Intelligence industry.

With more than 200 exhibitors showcasing their latest products, the fifth World Conference on Artificial Intelligence kicks off in Shanghai, under the theme “Intelligent Connectivity, Infinite Multiverse.”

This year a metaverse zone has been created for visitors to experience the features of what is described as an integrated network of 3D virtual worlds.

The conference also features the latest practical applications of AI business technology in sectors such as finance, security and retail.

But experts say that one sector that is increasingly benefiting from Artificial Intelligence is healthcare.

The Toumai laparoscopic surgery system is considered one of the 8 treasures of this year’s event.

“This four-armed surgical robot is completely designed and manufactured in China, and has been in the works for 7-8 years before getting NMPA approval in January this year. Surgical instruments are small, equivalent to the movement of a surgeon’s wrist, who can fully perform an operation from different angles in a minimally invasive way and with less recovery time,” said Cai Jingjing, Director of Advanced Marketing at Medbot.

Compared with traditional industrial robots, adaptive robots have higher performance control. Artificial Intelligence can help provide flexibility by automating boring and risky tasks.

“With that adaptable robot designed as a general-purpose robot, we have broadened our application in medical service, food processing, and various other areas,” said Liu Wanxi, Senior Product Manager, Flexiv.

In addition to minimizing boring and risky tasks, everyday life does not seem to have much connection with these robots yet, but experts continue to study the myriad opportunities that Artificial Intelligence can bring in the future.
