A political scientist who is an analyst of international risks, Ian Bremmer, is concerned above all about the damage that digital technologies, enhanced by generative artificial intelligence, are causing to democracy and humanity: man, a social animal in difficulty, less and less capable of interacting with others and to understand him “in a world of digital communication in which hatred attracts more than sex” while “young people often become involuntary celibates”. And the Franciscan academic of the Pontifical Gregorian University, Paolo Benanti, professor of bioethics and algorithms (ethics of algorithms and artificial intelligence), advisor to Pope Francis on moral issues related to the use of technology, alarmed by the impact of a artificial intelligence without rules not because it could lead, in a more or less remote future, to the destruction of mankind as some scientists fear but because, much earlier, it risks destroying what remains of the middle class with automation extended to the intellectual professions. An ever deeper destabilization of societies and democracies, if nothing is done quickly.

The first episode of five in the series on the risks of artificial intelligence by Massimo Gaggi with Paolo Benanti and Ian Bremmer.
