Artists want resignation of corrupt officials in BTV

After the formation of the interim government, the anti-discrimination artists and artists have spoken about the corruption and irregularities of Bangladesh Television.

They stayed away from this state owned television channel for a long time. Nepotism, nepotism and corruption of television officials have hampered the creativity of the underprivileged. These deprived artists, songwriters and artists said this in a program in front of BTV building at 9:30 am on Tuesday. They want the resignation of officials involved in corruption, including the DG of BTV.

Lyricist Sheikh Sadi Khan feels that artists have been deprived of their rights for a long time. He is the convener of this event. He said, ‘We want discrimination to be removed from BTV, Radio, Shilpakala Academy and other cultural institutions. We want distribution of work. Those who have talent should be evaluated. Besides, corruption has been going on in BTV for a long time, there are many complaints about it. But the authorities saw and did not take any action. This irregularity of cultural institutions should be stopped. In this, the dignity of the artists is being undermined, the minds of the artists are being broken.’

Sheikh Sadi Khan complained that there is no evaluation of meritorious people in Bangladesh Television for years, people who are preferred by the authorities are being excluded from the meritorious ones in various auditions. In this regard, he said, ‘Whatever happened in the name of audition, it should be stopped. Appreciation of the newly talented people is the need of the hour. Because we have to advance the cultural arena. We have only one word, corruption and anarchy should be removed from the industry. I want to see the cultural institutions in the place where the contribution of culture in building a beautiful country.

Songwriters, composers, vocalists, instrumentalists and other artists gathered in front of BTV to carry out peaceful programs and demand demands from cultural institutions including Bangladesh Television, Shilpakala Academy, Betar and other cultural institutions. From here, after 11:00 pm, after the program in front of BTV, they left for Shilpakala. Fawad Nasser Babu, Partha Mazumder, Palash, Abu Bakar Siddiqui and others were also present in the program.
