MOSCOW – General Sergei Surovikin alias General Armageddon Russia has reportedly been thrown into Moscow’s notorious Lefortovo prison. He is also reportedly undergoing interrogation over the coup by Wagner Group mercenaries.

General Surovikin (56), before disappearing and reportedly being detained, was deputy commander of Russia’s war in Ukraine.

He was reportedly aware of the coup plot by Wagner led by Yevgeny Prigozhin to overthrow the Russian military leaders last Saturday. In a dramatic move, Prigozhin suddenly aborted the armed uprising or coup.

Russian journalist Alexei Venediktov said Surovikin had not contacted his family for three days and his bodyguards were also absent.

A US official said Surovikin had advanced knowledge of Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin’s plans to overthrow Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Armed Forces Chief Gen. Valery Gerasimov.

If confirmed, he could face treason charges which could be up to 20 years in prison.

A Russian source told Moscow Times: “Apparently, he is [Surovikin] choose a side [Prigozhin selama pemberontakan]and they gripped the ball.”

Another source close to the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed his arrest but said details were not even discussed internally.

The Kremlin has refused to answer questions about the fate of the Armageddon general.
