Dieppe. Summer 1957. After being defeated in an amateur boxing match, Fabio (Francesco Di Leva) faces his younger brother André (Antonio Folletto). They haven’t seen each other in 17 years, since Fabio left his family’s home in Procida to fight alongside Mussolini’s black shirts. His father just died. And, as expressed by his last wishes, Andre has come to look for his brother to be present at the funeral, which will be held on his native island. After refusing at first, the circumstances and the coveted legacy finally push Fabio to accompany André. The journey will be long. The two brothers have difficulty communicating, the malaise of the years and the secrets not addressed lead to silence. André did not tell the whole truth to Fabio, and Fabio is mysterious about the years in which he was a wanderer. During this long journey, the two brothers will meet that will lead Fabio to wonder about his past, while André will discover with bitterness that his brother has become a delinquent. They question each other about the meaning of the return. The landscapes flow against the backdrop of their quarrels, their unexpected encounters and the difficulties that continue to accumulate. The Burgundy countryside, the Alps, the Italian border, Naples and then the crossing to Procida will be the stages of their reconciliation. Will this journey through two countries traumatized by war, and the same war that separated Fabio and André, offer the two brothers the opportunity to get closer? Will André forgive his brother for abandoning him? And Fabio, will he be able to accept his past? Who is Mary, whose name seems to haunt the two brothers?
