AS Roma Parts Ways with Daniele De Rossi as Head Coach After Slow Start to the Season

The Club’s decision “to resume the journey at the beginning of the season”

“AS Roma announces that it has relieved Daniele De Rossi of his duties as head coach of the First Team.” The club made this known in a statement on its website. “The Club’s decision is made in the interest of the team, to promptly resume the desired journey, at a time when the season is still at its beginning,” adds the Giallorossi statement. “To Daniele, who will always be at home in the Giallorossi Club, a heartfelt thank you for the work done in these months with passion and dedication. Further communications regarding the team’s technical management will follow.”

The club’s decision follows the arrival in Rome of brothers Dan and Ryan Friedkin on Monday, who had met with the team and the coach. De Rossi had taken the bench of Roma on January 16 in place of the dismissed Jose Mourinho, signing a three-year contract.
De Rossi’s dismissal comes after the away draw 1-1 against Genoa, which left Roma in 14th place in the standings with three points from three draws, in addition to a home defeat against Empoli.

The first hypotheses are emerging for the bench, such as Stefano Pioli, former coach of Milan, Lazio, Fiorentina, and Inter. The name of Max Allegri had also circulated.
