According to some Italian media, Zbigniew Boniek was among the candidates for this position. However, the excellent footballer of Roma and the Polish national team in the past strongly denied this information.

“Fake news,” the former president of the Polish Football Association (in 2012-2021), and currently UEFA vice-president, wrote on Twitter in the morning.

In the evening, Boniek congratulated Roma and the new head of the club. “Great choice. Well done,” he wrote in Italian.

On Monday, the club from the capital of Italy announced the dismissal of director Pietro Berardi. No reasons given.

The decision was made a few days after the prosecutor’s office seized financial records and launched an investigation into possible irregularities in the club’s transfer agreements.

Roma are currently third in Serie A and are in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
