House of Representatives spokesman Abdullah Belhaq announced that a closed session of the House of Representatives would be held today, Monday, to discuss the draft state budget law for the year 2024 submitted by the government appointed by the House.
Belhaq explained that the session was headed by the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Fawzi Al-Nuwairi, and in the presence of the Second Deputy Speaker, Misbah Douma.
Member of Parliament Abdel Moneim Al-Arfi told Al-Ahrar that the council will also discuss the court ruling issued against the decision to impose a tax on the official price of foreign currencies, as well as the issue of forming a government.
This session comes after an invitation from the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, which followed discussions he held with the Prime Minister-designate of the House of Representatives, Osama Hammad, regarding the general budget and its approval.
Last January, Osama Hammad referred the draft state budget for the year 2024 to the House of Representatives at a total cost exceeding 90 billion Libyan dinars.
On April 7, Hammad called on the Speaker and members of the House of Representatives to expedite the adoption of the general budget while authorizing his government only to implement it, pointing to what he described as “violations” committed by the National Unity Government.
