“As you look at me” by Antonis Remo and Eleni Foureira in “Spiti me to MEGA” – Yannis Fertis’ revelation about the song

by time news

The two singers, who this year joined forces at NOX, made a breakthrough, since during their program they presented a tribute to Greek cinema, specifically to songs that have made history.

One of them, “As you look at me” we enjoyed tonight at “Home with MEGA”.

“As you look at me” sung by Aphrodite Manou and Yiannis Fertis musically clothed one of the most deeply moving Greek films of all time, “That Summer” directed by Vassilis Georgiadis and written by Panos Kontellis, starring Elena Nathanael and Lakis Komnenos to live their love again from the beginning.

The lyrics were written by Alexis Alexopoulos and the music by Yiannis Spanos, who received the corresponding award at the 12th Thessaloniki Film Festival in 1971, with the film being distinguished with another award for cinematography.

The great Yannis Fertis, who passed away a few days ago, had said about this song in an earlier interview on ERT: “in the 1960s it was very fashionable for actors to sing. Some sang well, some sang badly. When Spanos had made this film, I don’t know why, the song had been sung by an Italian (Fefe Aliberti) who had been in Greece for many years and sang, Spanos wanted the album he released with all the musical pieces let me sing them. I didn’t want to. He convinced me. We went to the studio, there was a very good sound engineer there and I was saying now he will say ‘what a jerk Fertis is, he wants to sing too'”.
