C’is a long weekend which promises to be busy on all the roads in France. As reported Republican East, the Ascension Bridge will generate many traffic jams between this Wednesday, May 17 and Sunday, May 21, which will be the busiest day of the week and classified as black. According to Bison Futé, significant traffic difficulties and slowdowns are to be expected on all the main axes of the country, from Wednesday, classified red at the national level in the direction of departures.

“The first difficulties will appear at the end of the morning and the traffic will remain very dense until late in the evening. In Île-de-France, traffic will be very difficult towards the toll gates,” warns Bison Futé. Several motorways should be avoided from the Ile-de-France region: the A13 (Paris-Caen), the A10 (Paris-Bordeaux) and the A11 (Paris-Nantes). “These difficulties will be amplified in the middle of the afternoon by the traffic generated by the work-home journeys”, further details Bison Futé.

In the provinces, traffic conditions will also be very difficult on all the major axes and particularly in the Rhone corridor, on the Atlantic coast and around the Mediterranean.

A black Sunday in the sense of returns

For the rest of the extended weekend, Bison Futé still sees red at the national level in the direction of departures for Ascension Thursday. “In Île-de-France, the A1, A6, A10 and A13 motorways as well as the axes that join them (peripheral boulevard, A86) will be particularly affected. In the provinces, most of the main connecting roads will also be very busy. the A7 (especially between Lyon and Orange), the A9 and the A61 should be particularly busy,” underlines Bison Futé in its press release.

After a return to green across the country on Friday and Saturday, Sunday is classified as black at the national level in the direction of returns. This is the first triggering of this level since the beginning of the year and the only one planned by the organization in this direction of circulation throughout the year 2023.

Several axes will be particularly affected: the A6 (Lyon-Paris), the A7 (Marseille-Lyon), the A9 (Avignon-Orange), the A10 (Bordeaux-Paris), the A11 (Nantes-Paris) , the A13 (Caen-Paris) and the N165 (Nantes-Brest). Bison Futé specifies that the traffic difficulties will persist until late in the evening, especially in the Ile-de-France region.
