Ten years after their love broke up, Ashanti and Nelly found each other again. Now the two welcomed a child.
They were considered the dream couple of the music scene in the early 2000s, but singer Ashanti and rapper Nelly split up in 2013. Ten years later, a love sensation followed: the two are a couple again – and since then they have been providing one piece of good news after another.
First, their engagement was announced. In April, Ashanti announced on her social media profile that she and Nelly were expecting a child together. Now the musician is also using her Instagram channel to announce the birth of her baby – and that was quite some time ago.
In an Instagram photo, Ashanti poses in front of a mirror in underwear and a colorful cover-up. “I’m so proud of my body for giving me my baby,” she writes in the caption – revealing that her child has already seen the light of day. The post also includes a video in which the 43-year-old explains that the birth took place four weeks ago. You can see the clip if you click to the right in the post.
Her press spokesperson revealed further details to the US magazine “People”: “Ashanti and Nelly welcomed their little son Kareem Kenkaide Haynes on July 18, 2024. The proud and happy parents are so in love with KK,” said a representative of the couple.
The new mother’s Instagram post includes numerous heart emojis as well as numerous congratulations: “I’m so happy for you,” “You look so happy,” and “All the best to your little family,” are just a few of the comments.
It is Ashanti’s first child. Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes, is the father of two adult children. He also adopted two children of his sister, who died of leukemia in 2005.
