Fourth case in about two weeks: A 40-year-old woman was murdered this evening (Tuesday) in Ashdod after being attacked in her home, when it is suspected that her injuries were caused by a hammer. She was first referred for medical treatment at Asuta Hospital in Ashdod, where she was pronounced dead. Ashdod police officers were called to the scene and arrested her partner, who is suspected of being involved in the incident.

MDA paramedic Omer Weissman and MDA emergency medicine medic Eli Hoffman said: “When we arrived at the scene, they led us to an apartment in a residential building, we saw the woman lying unconscious and suffering from bruises on her body. We gave her medical treatment that included stopping the bleeding, dressings and administering medication and evacuated her in a mobile MDA’s intensive care when she is in serious condition.”
The partner called the police and reported that he had hurt his wife, he also apparently contacted MDA. Large police forces that arrived at the scene located the partner and arrested him. The woman was taken to the hospital in a very serious condition, during CPR, where she was pronounced dead.
As mentioned, this is the fourth case in two weeks in which a woman is murdered in Israel by a man she knew, when in three of the cases the suspect of the murder is a relative of hers, and in the fourth case it is a neighbor. This event should turn on red lights, as it becomes some kind of horrifying phenomenon in society. Police officials point out: “Another very difficult incident, when a woman finds her death under tragic circumstances of being harmed by the person closest to them.” There were no previous complaints between the couple.

We still haven’t had time to recover from yesterday’s news, and another woman was murdered in her home. Four women were murdered in the last two weeks and 22 last year. And the Minister of National Security, who is responsible for eradicating violence, is silent. We call on Minister Ben Gabir to hold an urgent emergency discussion with the professionals and formulate an operative plan to deal with the increasing violence against women. There is a lot to do. From promoting the electronic handcuffing law through joining the international convention for the prevention of violence against women to training and assigning standards for the struggle.
