The third Test of the Ashes series will be played in Melbourne tomorrow. Australia can retain the Ashes if they win the Boxing Day Test starting tomorrow in Melbourne. Australia are currently 2-0 up in the five – match series. Australia Test captain Pat Cummins will return as captain. When Cummins returns, Michael Nesser, who played in the Gabba Test, will be out.
Cummins was unable to play the Sydney Test because Covid was in close contact with a positive person when he went out to eat during the Adelaide Test. Former Australia captain and current vice-captain Steve Smith, who led Cummins in his absence, led the team to victory.

Pace bowler Scott Bolland will make his debut for Australia. Bolland is only the second traditional tribal cricketer to play for Australia after Jason Gillespie. Boland will replace the injured J Richardson in the third Test after the second Test.
