Thiruvananthapuram : The Asia Cup Track Cycling Championship is coming to Thiruvananthapuram for the first time in history. The Asia Cup will be held on the 25th, 26th and 27th of the next month at the Velodrome of LNCPE, Kariyavattam, with the participation of 20 countries. More than 200 players from countries including Pakistan will participate.

This is the first time that an international tournament involving so many countries in any sport is being held in Kerala. The Kerala Cycling Association is planning to conduct the Asia Cup with the full support of the state government. State Cycling Association President SS Sudheesh Kumar and Honorary Secretary Jayaprasad told Kerala Kaumudi that Sports Authority of India will also cooperate with the renovation works including velodram renovation and installation of floodlit.

The association also has the support of Sports Minister V. Abdurahman to hold the Asia Cup in Thiruvananthapuram. Other departments will also work collaboratively for the success of the tournament. An extensive organizing committee meeting is being held for this purpose on Thursday.
