Asia Cup Women’s Hockey: Indian team gets off to a winning start

Reigning champions India start the Asia Cup Women’s Hockey Tournament with a win. In the inaugural match played at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Oman, India defeated Malaysia by nine goals. The Indian team scored three goals each in the first and fourth quarters, one goal in the second quarter and two goals in the fourth quarter. The competition was completely dominated by Indian women. With the first victory, India came first in Group A. Japan is second.

India will take on Japan in the second match on Sunday. India can secure the semi-final if they win this match. India’s last match of the group stage is against Singapore on Monday.
