Asked about ‘Vai na Fé’, Malafaia detonates Globo’s history

Rede Globo de Televisão has been trying to publish content with the aim of attracting attention and attracting the evangelical public, obviously targeting this segment of the audience, and one of them is the soap opera Vai na Fé, shown at 7 pm.

Despite the effort in search of the evangelical audience, the broadcaster, which already has a history of content that attacks Christian values, especially the Protestant segment, does not seem to be managing to convince as much as it could.

Pastor and businessman Silas Malafaia, for example, said that he doesn’t even need to watch the soap opera Vai na Fé to predict what kind of content the plot offers. The leader of the Vitória em Cristo Assembly of God Church (ADVEC) gave his opinion on the matter when asked by Veja magazine.

“First, I’m out of touch with what the soap opera is like. Second, when did Globo not mock, not ridicule, not do something in order to denigrate (sic) the image of evangelicals?”, questioned the pastor.

In other words, Malafaia believes that due to Globo’s history, the soap opera Vai na Fé is no different from others that portrayed figures associated with the evangelical world in a pejorative and/or stereotyped way, never conveying the real image of the majority of Brazilian Protestants.

“When did a soap opera with good stuff come out, if it wasn’t to ridicule a pastor, if it wasn’t to ridicule an evangelical? If this is (opposite), it will be the first”, highlighted the pastor.

Malafaia also recalled that Grupo Globo’s media were able to associate evangelicals with drug trafficking, as if there were, for example, “evangelical drug dealers”, something inconceivable in duly recognized churches.

“A station, a group like that that says there is an evangelical drug dealer! Who has the audacity and absurdity to post news that (there is) an evangelical drug dealer, I don’t know, in a little while she will be an evangelical prostitute… I have doubts if she will say something well”, concluded.
