The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has been in Bilbao this Monday, practically the epicenter of the political controversy that is marking this start of the campaign: the inclusion of 44 ETA members (seven of them convicted of crimes of murder) in their electoral lists . Feijóo continues to put pressure on the PSOE and Pedro Sánchez to take action and prevent the 44 ETA members from showing up: for now, the Socialists have limited themselves to statements of rejection, which have mainly been harshly expressed by the barons.

However, the popular want measures and for this Feijóo has urged the Government to apply the current Law or modify it to prevent the 44 ETA members from being able to attend. The first step, in this sense, is to urge the State Attorney and State Prosecutor’s Office to “prevent people who have been murdered from appearing on electoral lists.”

In the popular ranks, in addition to resorting to the State Attorney’s Office and the Prosecutor’s Office, they also believe that the application of the Law makes it possible to prevent the 44 ETA members from going on the lists. In this sense, in article 9 of the Party Law, it is stipulated that “uA political party will be declared illegal when its activity violates democratic principles, particularly when it seeks to deteriorate or destroy the regime of freedoms or make impossible or eliminate the democratic system”. And, then, in section 3.C. of article 9, reads as follows: “IRegularly include in its governing bodies or in its electoral lists people convicted of terrorist crimes who have not publicly rejected the terrorist aims and means, or maintain a large number of its members double affiliation to organizations or entities linked to a terrorist or violent group , unless they have adopted disciplinary measures against them leading to their expulsion”.

If the Law does not prevent the 44 ETA members from standing in the elections, Feijóo appeals to modify them. “lThe laws cannot be indecent. If they are, we have to change them; the executioners cannot govern the victims ”, she has asserted.

Likewise, the president of the PP has demanded an “express declaration” from Sánchez so that he breaks with Bildu and that the PSOE does not govern with them in any town hall. “Victims do not have to pay salaries to executioner politicians. I would never agree with Bildu: that is the difference between Sánchez and me,” he added.

Therefore, in the PP they consider that there is room for the PSOE and the Government to move from words to action: either by applying the Law or by changing it. for now, The Prosecutor’s Office analyzes the complaint from the victims’ association Dignidad y Justicia y, After its analysis, “the appropriate decision will be made, regarding the opening or not of investigative proceedings preprocesales”.

In this sense, andhe leader of the popular has appealed to all those who reject Bildu’s maneuver of incorporating 44 ETA members: he believes that “the vast majority of citizens and Basques consider it “absolutely indecent” that, when reconciliation is attempted and being able to forget the almost thousand murders of ETA, Bildu has in his candidacies “people who have murdered”.
