Hamas announced today, Wednesday, the “assassination of its political bureau chief, Ismail Haniyeh, in an Israeli raid on his residence in Tehran.”

Hamas issued a statement saying: “Do not think that those who were killed in the way of God are dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision.”

The statement added: “The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas mourns to the sons of our great Palestinian people, to the Arab and Islamic nation, and to all the free people of the world: the brother, the martyred leader, the Mujahid Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the movement, who was killed in a treacherous Zionist raid on his residence in Tehran, after participating in the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president. To God we belong and to Him we shall return, and it is a jihad, victory or martyrdom.”

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards said in a statement, “Haniyeh and one of his security team members in Tehran, Wassim Abu Shaaban, were killed after their place of residence was targeted.”

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said, “We are studying the dimensions of the incident of Haniyeh’s martyrdom in Tehran and will announce the results of the investigation later.”
