Today, Thursday, the Israeli occupation army assassinated the commander of the Tulkarm Battalion of the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, Muhammad Jaber, nicknamed “Abu Shuja,” and 4 other members of the battalion.

This came during an exchange of fire in the Nour Shams camp in the West Bank, after a military operation launched by the occupation army yesterday, Wednesday, according to Hebrew media.

Channel 14 Israel reported some details of the killing, saying that at around 4:00 a.m. the Israeli army surrounded a building in Tulkarm camp, where a number of Palestinian militants were present, including Abu Shuja.

An Israeli army force fired a missile at the besieged building during an exchange of fire with the armed group.

At the end of the armed clashes, the commander of the Tulkarm Battalion, Abu Shuja, and 4 others who were with him were killed, while the Israeli army arrested a wanted Palestinian from the building.

The Israeli occupation army also announced that a soldier was injured during the armed clashes in Nour Shams camp.

In turn, the Islamic Jihad Movement confirmed that “the martyrdom of Abu Shuja, the commander of the Tulkarm Battalion affiliated with the Al-Quds Brigades and one of its early founders, will not eradicate the resistance in the occupied West Bank.”

The movement said in a statement that “Abu Shuja” decided to bravely confront the occupation with his brothers, to lift the injustice from their people, realizing that confronting the enemy, whatever the price, is much easier than living under a criminal occupation.

The Islamic Jihad Movement condemned what it considered a “global conspiracy” that provides the occupation with an opportunity to isolate the Palestinian people and commit crimes against humanity against them, making those who are complicit and silent partners in this crime.

In turn, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) mourned, in a statement, the leader “Abu Shuja’ and all the martyrs of the Palestinian people, stressing that the continuation of the occupation’s aggression on the West Bank will not break the resistance.”

It is noteworthy that Muhammad Jaber, known as “Abu Shujaa,” was born in 1998 in the Nur Shams camp in Tulkarm Governorate. He grew up in the camp with his parents and five siblings, of whom he is the middle child. His family lived in the camp after being displaced from the city of Haifa during the events of the Nakba in 1948.

Abu Shuja studied the early stages of education in Nour Shams camp, but he was unable to complete his studies due to the difficult circumstances. He joined the factions early in his life, and was arrested for the first time when he was seventeen years old.
