The cities most visited by parliamentarians to attend official missions were Panama, Bogotá, Quito, Santiago de Chile and Havana.

These are some of the findings presented by the National Foundation for Development (FUNDE) in the Report on trips made and travel expenses assigned to deputies and employees of the Legislative Assembly in 2013.

According to the report, the most expensive air ticket purchased in the period January-December 2013 to attend official missions, had a cost of $8,553.00, this corresponds to a trip made by Congressman Guillermo Gallegos (GANA) to the city of Sydney, Australia, between March 8 and 17, parliament allocated $1 million 66 thousand 278 in travel and per diem, equivalent to 1.85% of the budget assigned to the first State Organ. The report highlights that no trips were made in June.

The document reveals that the tickets purchased by the Assembly for certain destinations are well above the market price.

The trips for official missions were distributed as follows: FMLN 83 trips, ARENA with 60, GANA 59, PCN 44, Unidos por El Salvador 11, CD 6 and employees 60 trips.

The number of missions per party increases due to their representation in the Assembly, however, GANA does not have the same number of deputies as ARENA but they have made almost the same number of trips.

Thus, the five deputies who traveled the most were: Sigfrido Reyes, Reynaldo Cardoza, Alberto Romero, Sandra Salgado and Serafín Orantes.
