The deputies reformed the National Budget Law 2024 to incorporate resources to provide student scholarships in the Education, Science and Technology branch.

The total amount for this project is $25 thousand, coming from donations. To this end, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) signed a non-refundable financial cooperation agreement with El Salvador on April 21, 2023.

Given this agreement, the banking institution granted $625 thousand to finance between 125 to 250 scholarships at most, for five years of study to total $5,000 per student. These benefits will be delivered to students who meet the criteria in the Bicentennial Scholarship Program for Third Cycle and Secondary Education Students.

The scholarships, coordinated and administered by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MINEDUCYT), will be allocated to young people residing in Ahuachapán, La Libertad and La Unión.

125 students, from five public educational institutions that are located in high-risk and extreme poverty areas, will be favored for having high academic performance.

The young people chosen this 2024 will become part of the second promotion that promotes this project. The first was made up of students from the “Sor Clara Quiroz” Educational Complex and the “Walter A. Soundy” Educational Complex, both from La Libertad; from the “Doctor Arturo Romero” Educational Complex and the “General Fabio Morán” Educational Complex, both in Ahuachapán; and the “José Pantoja Jr. Educational Complex” in La Unión.
