jpnn.comJAKARTA – Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Puan Maharani said that the Draft Law (RUU) on Asset Confiscation will be discussed by members of the next council period, namely the 2024-2029 period.
“The time is very short, and later there will be members of the DPR for the next period,” said Puan at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (10/9).
Therefore, Puan said that the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 2019-2024 period is currently focusing on matters that must be completed by October 1, 2024. October 1 is the inauguration of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 2024-2029 period.
“We will wait until the next period changes while completing the things that need to be completed,” he said.
Previously, Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Ahmad Sahroni, also said that the Bill on Asset Confiscation would be brought to the next term of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
“This trial period is only a few days away. So, it is possible that it will be in the next trial period, in a new period,” said Sahroni at Borobudur University, Jakarta, Sunday (8/9).
The push to complete the discussion and ratification of the Asset Confiscation Bill was conveyed by President Joko Widodo.
“I appreciate the DPR’s quick steps in responding to the developing situation (revision of the Regional Election Law, ed.). A quick response is a good thing, very good, and I hope it can also be applied to other things too, which are urgent, for example the Asset Confiscation Bill,” said Jokowi, Tuesday (27/8).
