TRENTO. The blue one Assunta Legnante (photo) has conquered the gold medal in the F12 shot put at the Paris Paralympics. With a best of 14.54 meters, Legnante finished first in the final at the Stade de France, ahead of Uzbek Safiya Burkhanova, silver with 14.12, and China’s Yuping Zhao, bronze with 12.21.
For the Neapolitan blue, today on the platform with a mask depicting the gaze of the Mona Lisa, this is the second medal, after the silver in the discus, in two competitions disputed, sixth medal at the Paralympics, Paralympic shot put champion for the third time after London 2012 and Rio 2016, with the silver medal at Tokyo 2020 in between and an Olympic career behind her (until 2009, interrupted by an eye disease).
At the moment, 2.30pm on September 6th, Italy is sixth in the medal tablebehind France, with the same number of golds (17), 11 silvers and 29 bronzes, for a total of 57.
