The Chief Advisor Prof. Dr. has assured the business leaders of all possible support to take the industrial growth of Bangladesh to a new height. Muhammad Yunus.

The Principal Adviser gave this assurance to the business delegation during a courtesy call on him at the Rashtriya Guest House Yamuna on Tuesday (September 4).

He said, we want to take the industry to a new level. The student-mob revolution ushered in a new era in the country and the interim government committed to necessary reforms in industry, finance and manufacturing.

Business leaders pointed to the recent unrest in the garment and pharmaceutical sectors, saying they suspected that factories were vandalized at the instigation of outsiders, including groups living outside the country.

Demanding to strengthen the security of industrial areas, they said, if the security of the factories is not ensured, the image of the country will be damaged.

Dr. Yunus told the business delegation that his government is committed to protecting factories from violence and attacks.

He said, it is our duty to protect the industry.

He urged them to reform labor in an effort to get more orders from leading global brands and retailers, saying, “We have a big opportunity to make important reforms.” We need to upgrade our labor laws to ILO standards.

The chief adviser said he had spoken to the world’s top business chief executives and they were interested in investing in Bangladesh and placing more orders.

The business delegation was led by International Chamber of Commerce, Bangladesh President Mahbubur Rahman. Square Pharmaceuticals Managing Director Tapan Chowdhury, FBCCI former presidents AK Azad and Mir Nasir Hossain, BGMEA President Khondkar Rafiqul Islam and Standard Chartered Bangladesh Managing Director Nasser Ejaz Vijay attended the meeting.
