(ANSA) – PESARO, 04 SEPTEMBER – The birth rate for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of San Salvatore in Pesaro is picking up again. The trend shows an increase of over 6% in the number of births compared to the previous year, when the facility reopened after the pandemic. “After the efforts – explains the Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department of Pesaro and Fano Claudio Cicoli – the obstetrician has aimed for the new full acquisition of the best possible obstetric service. Despite the national trend of decreasing birth rates, in Pesaro – the manager underlined – during 2024 we are witnessing a growth trend that is rewarding the organizational effort of the team, despite the widespread reduction in birth rates common to all obstetric departments in the Marche region”.
Furthermore, in these very months “we have had several additions of medical support units that were previously missing, which are essential – explained Cicoli – to allow for a new organization that will soon allow for the care of pregnant women, guaranteeing all three obstetric ultrasounds in the first trimester (generally between the 11th and 13th week), in the second (at 19-22 weeks) and in the third trimester (at 30-34 weeks)”.
At San Salvatore, the naturalness of birth is achieved through research into physiology, bringing to light the skills of active birth, where the family becomes the protagonist, through respectful human accompaniment, guaranteeing the various methods of birth, from the most spontaneous and natural possible, to the operative one, in case of strict necessity.
Also very attractive is the possibility of giving birth in water, a tub created at the Pesaro hospital in 2001. Today, in fact, giving birth in water and the demands of water as a natural method of pain control is an option that is used to the fullest and midwives, almost daily, use this extraordinary natural element, acquiring continuous and current skills, promoting obstetric success, bringing enormous and total satisfaction to both staff and users.
“Another important impact will be had with the new integration path – continues Cicoli – which will see the full involvement of the hospital departments with the consulting rooms located in the territory, for a hospital-territory synergy, so that we arrive at having a truly integrated and complex management of all the paths, it is the common objective: Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment, with particular attention to the Maternal and Child Department that will lead us to have a better organizational uniformity, towards the AST, in the Departments and in the territories”.
“Attention to the health of women and future unborn children is a priority for us – says the Vice President of the Regional Council and Health Councilor of the Marche Region, Filippo Saltamartini -, for this reason we are committed on multiple levels to respond in an increasingly adequate way to their specific needs. The current scenario presents us with important challenges such as the decline in births and the aging of the population, issues on which we are implementing an action plan aimed at addressing and overcoming the problems related to the lack of personnel, through new hires and the increase in scholarships for doctors”.
