AstraZeneca Delivers 2 Billion Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine to Countries

by time news

British-Swedish company AstraZeneca, in collaboration with the University of Oxford, has developed a vaccine against COVID-19, announced that since the approval of its vaccine by regulators, it has already delivered 2 billion doses worldwide. Thus, it became the first Western manufacturer to reach this level. Globally, it is second only to the Chinese Sinovac vaccine.

The AstraZeneca vaccine is now produced in 15 countries around the world and is used in more than 170 countries. The vaccine has so far “helped prevent 50 million COVID-19 cases, 5 million hospitalizations, and saved more than 1 million lives,” the company estimates.

Meanwhile, the company noted last week that the coronavirus appears to be becoming endemic and will manifest itself regularly like the flu, according to The Daily Telegraph. Therefore, AstraZeneca believes that they no longer need to sell the vaccine at cost, as it does now, and the company can start making a profit for its products.
