Astronomy enthusiasts are expected to witness the first solar eclipse in 2022 after a few weeks, on April 30, according to an RT report.

The eclipse will occur across parts of Antarctica, the southern tip of South America, the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. At the end of April, a partial solar eclipse will sweep parts of Antarctica, the southern tip of South America, the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean.

The solar eclipse will begin at 2:45 pm EST (18:45 GMT), when it will be visible for the first time to sky watchers in the visibility area.

The time of the maximum eclipse will be at 4:41 pm EST (20:41 GMT), with the eclipse ending at 6:37 pm EST (22:37 GMT), according to TimeandDate.com.

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun, in this case, partially obscuring the sun from viewers on Earth, and during the partial solar eclipse for this month, the moon will block 54% of the sun as a maximum.

This is called a partial solar eclipse, and it occurs when the moon passes in front of a part of the sun instead of covering it completely, therefore, part of the sun always remains visible during the eclipse, and the eclipse reaches its maximum stage at 4:41 pm EST (20:41 GMT). ), when the axis of the moon’s shadow cone passes close to the center of the Earth, according to EarthSky.org.

The April 30 eclipse occurs just four days before the moon reaches its zenith, which is its farthest point from Earth.

This event will be the first of two partial solar eclipses in 2022. The second will occur on October 25, and then we will not witness another total solar eclipse until 2023.

As a reminder, people should always use solar eclipse goggles when viewing the eclipse, to avoid burning the retina, causing irreparable damage to the eyes.
