Asus has launched a 42-inch OLED-based gaming monitor

Asus announced the launch of the ROG Swift PG42UQ, a 42-inch screen that, despite its size, and despite its panel, is not a TV but a gaming screen for all intents and purposes – at least according to the company, which attached its gaming brand to it.

ROG Swift PG42UQ is a 4K resolution OLED screen that can be used primarily as a gaming screen, according to the company, and not a TV. As such, it added a coating to prevent reflections and also built a cooling system around it that should lower the temperature by 8% to ensure that the life of the OLED LEDs will be longer.

The screen offers a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and even 138 Hz if you use its DisplayPort 1.4a connection. In the other connections, the refresh rate is lower, and it is an HDMI 2.1 connection and two HDMI 2.0 connections. There is a USB hub and there are two built-in speakers.

Its response time, which the company says is real, is 0.1 millisecond, and it offers support for HDR10, but not Dolby Vision. Its brightness is 900 nits, and it comes color calibrated from the factory at the level of Delta E < 2.

In the UK the screen is already on pre-sale and the price is high: £1,399.
