As part of the online presentation, ASUS has presented two new flagship smartphones – the base model Zenfone 8 and Zenfone 8 Flip with a folding camera.
Zenfone 8 has a 5.9-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD + resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels) with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The new ASUS flagship is the first smartphone to receive a 12MP front-facing camera with a Sony IMX663 sensor that supports 4K video recording. The main camera unit has a 64MP lens with a Sony IMX686 sensor capable of recording 8K video.
The 4000 mAh battery supports 30W charging. Zenfone 8 is the first in the history of ASUS to receive dust and moisture protection – the smartphone is certified according to the IP68 standard.
Zenfone 8 Flip features a 6.6-inch AMOLED display with Full HD + resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels) with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. The smartphone lacks a front camera. Instead, ASUS proposes to use a folding main camera block, which includes the same two lenses as the Zenfone 8, and an additional 8MP telephoto lens with an OmniVision OV08A sensor.
The model has a 5000 mAh battery with support for 30 W fast charging, but lacks protection from dust and moisture.
Both phones are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chip. Zenfone 8 is available in versions with 6, 8 and 16 GB of RAM and 128 and 256 GB of internal memory without support for memory cards. The Zenfone 8 Flip has 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, plus support for microSD cards up to 2TB.
Smartphones support 5G communication and Wi-Fi 6, are equipped with NFC modules, have three microphones and two stereo speakers with amplifier, as well as proprietary noise reduction technology. Only Zenfone 8 has 3.5mm audio jack. The displays are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
Available in black and silver. The gadgets are controlled by the Android 11 operating system with the proprietary ZenUI 8 shell. The cost of ASUS Zenfone 8 will start from € 599. Zenfone 8 Flip will hit the market at a price of € 799.
