The government has started selling 10 products including potatoes, eggs, onions and potatoes under Open Market Sale (OMS). These products will be sold through truck sales at 20 points in the capital.
On Tuesday (October 15) in front of the food building of the capital, the agricultural product OMS program 2024 was inaugurated by Finance and Trade Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.
He said, to give relief to the consumers, the program of selling products at low prices has been launched. This activity will be continued.
And Agriculture and Home Affairs Advisor Lt. Gen. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that OMS for agricultural products was first started in the capital. Gradually this program will be introduced across the country.
In the context of rising prices of daily commodities. Jahangir Alam said that the flood has caused damage to vegetables in different areas. Which has an impact on the market. But the price is expected to come down soon.
Under OMS, the first package will cost 5 kg potato, 1 kg onion and 1 dozen eggs at 350 rupees. In the other package, one kg of misty pumpkin, one kg of potal, one kg of bitter gourd, one kg of kachur mukhi, 100 grams of green chillies and two and a half kg of papaya will cost Tk 250.
Apart from this, each piece of gourd will cost Rs.50. Potatoes are being sold at Tk 30 per kg, eggs at Tk 130 per dozen and onions at Tk 70 per kg.
Meanwhile, general consumers have expressed their satisfaction to be able to buy products at lower prices. They said that products should be sold at low prices in markets like truck sales. But relief will return to the public.
650 Tk products will be available at the 20 places in the capital
Initially, these agricultural products will be given to 20 places in the capital through truck sale. The places are – Food Building, Manik Mia Avenue, Mirpur-10, Basabo, Basila, Rayer Bazar, Rajarbagh, Mugda-North, Mugda-Dakshin, Palashi Mor, Hazaribagh, Mohammadpur, Gabtali, Mohakhali Bus Stand, Begunbari, Uttarkhan, Dakshin Khan, Kamrangirchar, Rampura and Jhigatala.
Ministry of Commerce Secretary Mohang Salim Uddin and Secretary of Agriculture Ministry Dr. Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian and Director General of Agriculture Marketing Department Masood Karim were present.
