Time for pre-Christmas toasts, aperitifs – increasingly popular – and meetings where there is never a shortage of food or bubbles. With all this “of course There is a risk of gaining weight during these holidays. We experience this every year. But you can’t be too extremist either. A small ‘dose’ of bubbly or Christmas goodness, shared with others, is important: conviviality, being together, is a fundamental element in this period. And it is beneficial in terms of psycho-physical health”, explains to Adnkronos Salute the nutritionist and phytotherapist Ciro Vestita who tries to dispel some clichés.

The first is that fasting can help you cope better with dinners and dinners. “Personally I don’t think that preventative fasting can be very useful, because when you get to dinner with hungry friends you eat twice as much, even feeling justified. Better to eat soberly, use lots of fruit and vegetables. For example, munch on fennel before lunch and before dinner to break hunger. And then every now and then let’s treat ourselves to a bit of bubbles because obviously alcohol should be taken in extreme moderation but it’s also true that a little bit to toast with friends improves our mood”.

A particular attention should be paid to aperitifs“an aperitif with lots of chips, lots of peanuts, lots of olives can really increase your calorie intake. The foods that contain the most calories are chips, they are rich in fat and should be eaten in moderation. The alternative can be represented by raw vegetables and (little) dried fruit”.
