About ten people are believed to be missing after the floods, officials said.
It has already been reported that heavy rains in Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday night caused floods that washed out roads and collapsed bridges. Houses, gardens and cars were flooded. In the middle of the country, the flood cut off several settlements from the outside world.
In the municipality of Jablanica, southern Bosnia, an entire village was almost completely buried by a landslide of earth and rocks from a nearby mountain. Local residents told reporters that they heard a deafening noise and saw houses disappearing before their eyes. Most of the people who are considered missing in the natural disaster are from this village.
Rescue teams from neighboring countries and European Union (EU) countries arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina today.
Authorities said rescuers from Croatia had already arrived, but a team from Serbia was expected in the afternoon, followed by a team from Slovenia with dogs. Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, the Czech Republic and Turkey have also offered help.
Municipal elections are taking place in Bosnia today, which were postponed in flood-affected regions.
