At least 28 people have been killed by drowning or falling trees due to heavy monsoon rains and flooding in the Indian state of Gujarat over the past three days, government officials said.

The Meteorological Authority warned of heavier rain on Thursday in the western coastal state.
Rivers overflowed and more than 30,000 people were evacuated.
The state government said late Wednesday that 13 people died from drowning and the others from houses or trees falling on them.
The Indian Express newspaper reported that 35 people have died so far across the state.
Disaster rescue teams rescued 1,856 people, and army officers were deployed for relief operations.
Vadodara was among the worst affected cities, according to the press release.
The electricity network was severely disrupted, and almost 1,000 villages lost power.
