“We are working to collect the bodies,” said David Bissaka, MP for the Mai-Ndombe district where Kinseley is located. He indicated that the bodies of the soldiers were transferred “to the morgues in Kinsale,” noting that “the remains of the militia members are still lying on the ground in Kinsale.”
For his part, a security source in the Mai-Ndombe region said that the total toll reached 41 dead, explaining that this clash comes at a time when the area located in the suburb of Kinshasa has seen a renewal of violence since July 10.
In 2022, tension between the “Tiki”, who consider themselves the owners of the villages along the Congo River, and the “Yaka” who came to settle after them, turned into fights and massacres.
The “Mubondo”, who are presented as members of the Yaka community, are accused of having an actual role in the violence that has left hundreds dead on both sides.
