Palestinian officials said this morning that Israeli strikes in the Gaza city of Khan Younis killed at least seven people, the Associated Press reported. At least 15 people were injured, including women and children.
The Israeli armed forces, meanwhile, said they would do “whatever is necessary” to push Hezbollah from Lebanon’s border with Israel. The two sides have been shelling each other since the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas. Israel carried out hundreds of airstrikes in southern and eastern Lebanon yesterday, killing almost 500 people and injuring more than 1,600.
Thousands of residents of southern Lebanon have left their homes and caused a traffic jam on the main highway to Beirut, representing the largest flight of people from the southern part of the country since the war between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006, BTA reported.
According to information from the Israeli armed forces, the Hezbollah group fired more than 100 projectiles at Israel last night. Shells penetrated deep into Israeli territory, including around the northern city of Haifa and parts of the occupied West Bank. Most of them were intercepted, but two people were slightly injured by falling debris in northern Israel.
