The reported address for the shooting appeared to match a student residential building which is on the same block as a local police station.

“We ask everyone to shelter in place and avoid the area,” police said on “X,” the platform formerly known as Twitter. Around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, they concluded the situation and indicated that they would provide more details at a press conference.

There they confirmed that the Four men and a woman between 18 and 22 years old were injured.and that only one of them is not a university student.

Police spokeswoman Amanda Krotki said there were several victims with injuries, but clarified that their lives were not in danger.

For his part, local councilman Ryan Dorsey slipped into X that “it is believed that there were three shooters shooting into the crowd.” No arrests were announced.

The coronation of Mister & Miss Morgan State was scheduled for this Tuesday night at the Murphy Fine Arts Center.

That is why shortly after midnight dozens of students in dresses and suits began to leave the art center, where they had taken refuge. Many were trying to process the traumatic episode that turned an evening of celebration into a moment of chaos and fear.

Konnor Crowder, a sophomore from Baltimore, said she was waiting with her friends for the coronation dance to start when they saw people running around campus.

“First I wondered why they were running, then I wondered where we should go,” he said.

Several parents gathered in an area in front of the south entrance to the campus. James Willoughby, a former student at the university whose daughter was a freshman, said he wouldn’t leave until she saw him. “I will be here until I can physically see her,” he said.
