At least thirteen dead in roof collapse during skating competition

The results are not final. At least 13 people died on Saturday in Bahia Blanca (Argentina), following the collapse of the roof of the Bahiense del Norte sports club during a strong storm. A skating competition was taking place there.

“Firefighters continue to search for people still under the rubble,” the municipality of this port city in the southwest of the country said in a statement.

Wind gusts greater than 140 km/h

In addition to heavy rainfall, the city, which is partly deprived of electricity, recorded wind gusts of more than 140 km/h, according to weather service data.

These bad weather conditions also affected small neighboring towns, some even experiencing hail.
